Grandmaster Stephen A. Lonsdale was born in 1954 in Liverpool England and grew up in Ontario Canada. He is now an American citizen.
He began martial arts in college in 1973. He studied Shotokan Karatedo under Kim Hooi Wong. GM Lonsdale became a correctional officer for the province of Ontario in 1978.
In 1986, he founded the Goderich Shotokan Karate Brotherhood. He began studying jujutsu in 1988 under Dan Krupa, Toronto Police Officer, the organization was Jiu Jitsu International headed by Kyoshi Richard Morris.
In 1990, he began studying Hakkoryu Jujutsu under Michael J. Lamonica and in 1993 travelled to Japan where he tested for shodan under the son of the founder of Hakkoryu, Ryuho Okuyama.
He then founded the Shining Mountain Dojo in Goderich, Ontario. He was a Defencive Tactics Instructor under Steve Fox for my institution and earned his instructor certificate in Nerve Pressure Point Control Tactics under Georges Sylvan, Algonquin Justice College.

He conducted numerous classes and seminars in Canada and the USA in 1998 and wrote a book (limited edition)
An Introduction to Seishindo: A Modern Method of Self Defence. In 1999, he was recognized as founder and grandmster of Seishindo by the above organizations.

European Jujitsu Union
United Nations Education Sports and Culture Organization
In 2007 of Nov. 10th, he was awarded the rank of Judan and the title of Hanshi by the IKBK and the European Jujitsu Union.
Due to injuries sustained in 34 years of training, he only conduct limited seminars having turned over the reins of Seishindo to his student Lance Anderson, Nidai Soke. He continues to write about Seishindo, martial arts and to promote the International Kongo Bugei Kai. He also occassionally practice shotokan with his good friend Sensei Andrew Faupel, founder of the Kenkojuku Karate of South Jersey Dojo.
September 2008 will mark my 35th year in martial arts.
