Wudang, the holy mountains and motherland of Internal Kung Fu
With respect to China one differentiates two large Martial art trends: Wudang and Shaolin. Wudang or Wudang style stand thereby representatively of the inside or also switches in such a way specified of martial arts: Taijiquan, Xingyiquan and Baguazhang. Shaolin stands for exterior or hard martial arts.
The fame of the martial art of the Wudang mountains is to attribute to its founder, the famous Daoist Zhang Sanfeng, which lived in the Wudang mountains and developed the Taijiquan there. All other Taijiquan Styles developed on the basis of the realizations of Zhang Sanfeng. Around Zhang Sanfeng and the emergence of the Taijiquan did not climb long years numerous legends and the true founder of the Taijiquan was proven historically. Lately, however, increases historical sources to China to light brought, the Zhang Sanfeng as founders of the Taijiquan to prove. Thus, the Wudang mountains attains a ever greater importance for the Taijiquan both on national, as well as on international level and the Wudang style receives again the meaning, which it had in China since more.
The Wudang mountains, holy daoist mountains in the northwest of the province Hubei in central China convenient, also "holiest mountains under the sky" mentioned, extend over a surface of 400km with many monasteries and temples. In the separating ness and peace of the Wudang mountains many daoist a settlers found since year dogs refuge, in order to withdraw themselves and to its daoist exercises follow from the material world. Their goal was it to live in conformity with the features of nature to extend the river of the life in addition-given and by different Meditations the life. The mountains are beauty, the radiant admittance of the monasteries and its humans as well as the old-age tradition of the Wudang style that break and open its door for me into the Wudang mountains.
And one finds a piece of old China there actual, how it is described also in the film. Monks and nuns with long hair bound on the top of the head, old monks with white beards and daoist black or blue garbs let one be into the past.
And nevertheless is this present. The temples and monasteries seem to merge with the landscape. Into all gentleman-God-early daoist singing penetrates from the monasteries to the ear and catches one. These philosophical singing tells of the Daoism, informs about traditional Chinese medicine, about the laws of nature, the human psychology and the behaviour of animals.
In their devotions, the monks and nuns pray for the mildness of the elements, prosperity and peace. Peace and modesty proceeds from the monasteries, and the daoist philosophy of the ' Wu Wei ', or ' acting ', ' the natural run of the things ' is not here noticeable. The daoist atmosphere is pervasive.
During our journey we had to train the possibility in the " Wudang Daoist Wushu college " under master Huang Chanbo direct beside the " temple of heaven" and in the " Wudang Internal Boxing School " with master You Xuande and in Wudangshan with master Tian Liyang. Besides we became acquainted with the president of the Wudang Wushu Association Mr. Liu and could watch any great Wudang Wushu demonstration.
